What do you hear as you join the shoppers in Broad Street, Barbados; Fredrick Street, Trinidad or the centers in New Kingston, Jamaica. Well perhaps the tourist just did not quite get the meaning of it all. But Timothy Callender in his first book has captured the lot in true West Indian style. Here we have dialect at its best. Each story is vividly told by one whose short stories on radio have been a huge success. The visitor to the islands in the sun will enjoy the book. It will make the holiday that more memorable for these stories are so true to life. Those who are students of language and culture will find in a wealth of material. For surely this book is a must on any West Indian reading List.

Reviews

“For All Caribbean Immigrants Missing Home” - I have this book and it is side-splitting funny. It is written in Caribbean English and has many clichés that take you back to the islands. It contains a few hilarious stories of "man and woman ting". A definite pick-me-up for those who miss the Caribbean. Do not read it in public you may end up laughing out loud. I long for more literature like this. It is well worth buying and sharing.
